Dragonetti - Duet for Cello and Double Bass (Urtext), Score and Parts
Domenico Dragonetti - Duet for Cello and Double Bass in B-flat major, Urtext edition. Complete score and parts, 14 pages, available as a PDF download.
Domenico Dragonetti’s Duetto for Contrabass & Violoncello is available in an Urtext edition prepared from its two manuscript sources. Dragonetti’s manuscripts are mostly held in the British Library, where they’ve been housed since Dragonetti’s friend Vincent Novello donated these scores to be preserved there. The duet for cello and bass appears in score form within MS 17829, however in an incomplete form with much of the duet missing. A completed version is a manuscript of the two individual parts that resides in the Boston Library as part of the Allen A. Brown Collection of Music (M. 445. 11)
The Boston manuscript of this duet is surprisingly complete when compared with many of Dragonetti’s other manuscripts in the British Library, which are often scattered throughout different volumes of manuscripts and appear in multiple versions of pieces. The inconsistencies of certain markings has been addressed when comparing the two sources, making this the most ideal version of the piece when compared to other publications that have both changed dynamics and articulations, as well as getting the occasional note wrong. This edition is available with a complete score and two individual parts.
