Sperger - Double Bass Concerto No.2 in D major (Urtext), Score and Parts

$58.00

Johannes Matthias Sperger - Double Bass Concerto No.2 in D major, Urtext edition. Complete parts and score, including solo double bass and cadenza parts, available in PDF files.

Johannes Matthias Sperger’s second double bass concerto is available in an Urtext edition, edited from the manuscript at the Landesbibliothek Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Schwerin (Mus 5176/12 and Mus 5177/6). Titled “Concerto per il Contrabaßo” and written in 1778, this work in D major is a wonderful piece in the classical style and contains many passages that show off the possibilities of Viennese tuning.

In addition to creating this Urtext edition from the original parts and score, Sperger’s original cadenzas have been presented from their manuscript source (Mus 5872/4, L 2 i). While the second and third movement cadenzas are written out in a straightforward way, Sperger wrote out three different ideas for cadenzas in the first movement. The cadenzas have all been included as a separate part so the player can decide what they would like to include in their performance.

The horn parts are presented in their original notation for natural horn. Please contact me if parts are needed in other keys.
